Cécile Rives

is an opera singer (soprano) and dancer-acrobat (stilts and trapeze).  She graduated from the prestigious Beaubourg Ircam in Paris, as well as the Conservatory of Music  (Premiers Prix du Conservatoire).

A truly singular artist, she enjoys blending her art of singing with different spheres: classical recitals, contemporary performances, concerts and recordings of improvised music, street theatre, balls in unusual locations…

For over twenty years, in France and worldwide, she has multiplied experiences and adventures:

Singing as figurehead of a ship in Dubai; alighting from a 60-metre-high crane in front of 25 000 spectators for the inauguration of a stadium; being a Queen of the Night on stilts for the programme The Greatest Cabaret in the World; becoming an aerial Traviata on her trapeze…

Collaborating with contemporary artists at Beaubourg, the Cartier Foundation…and remaining a passionate performer of today’s music…

“Cécile Rives chante, crie, susurre, passe du chant lyrique au langage automatique dans des improvisations qui évoquent Carla Bley ou Nina Hagen.”
